PathMotion is a seed-round career guidance web site. Using the principles of positive
psychology and proprietary semantic search technology, PathMotion has developed a
career planning tool that guides job seekers from “What should I do with my life?” to
“Getting the job: done.” PathMotion empowers students and alumni to make better career
choices and find the job most relevant to their interests and motivations. Recruiters will
be able to better identify relevant candidates, and universitplanning tool to aid students and reconnect with alumni.

PathMotion seeks a seasoned VP Product Development to manage our web application’s architecture and drive forward the development of the platform in line with user requirements.

Our approach is data driven, experimental, user-focused, leveraged, and utilizes rapid iterations. You may be interested in working with us if you have the following interests, each of which reflects some aspect of the products we’re developing:

* Large datasets, statistics, and algorithms
* Search, relevance, data extraction, and text mining problems
* Recommendation systems
* New approaches to data availability and access (OpenSocial, etc.)

Responsibilities

* Understand the needs of our customers and take leadership for developing PathMotion’s core product features. Work with Marketing to define the web experience roadmap based on consumer and product needs as well as market opportunities.
* Manage development of core technologies based on information extraction theories and practices to revolutionize vertical search in careers. Develop algorithms, collect data, build models (if necessary), analyze results, and refine methodologies.
* Manage the software development process and development group, setting short-term objectives and assessing progress. You will initially “roll up your sleeves” and code as you lead the existing development team, but as the company grows you will recruit and coach additional developers.
* Participate as a member of the senior management team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately, and the organization’s resources are used responsibly.

Your success will be measured by your ability to improve the PathMotion career search experience, including search relevancy, breadth and depth of coverage of source data, and statistical accuracy.

Description du candidat recherché :

Qualifications

* Degree in computer science or engineering. Focus on information retrieval a plus.
* Hands-on experience designing, delivering and supporting large-scale applications and/or data systems.
* Strong experience with data modeling and production, from extraction to analysis, conversion, and maintenance. Experience with text mining problems preferred.
* Track record of making sound assumptions in order to constrain and solve ill-defined and complex problems.
* Experience leading dynamic teams; experience in a start up environment a plus.
* Must be a hands-on coder.
* Spoken French is a plus.
